Fred paused on the stairs, scanning the lobby. Heavy dark shadows crowded the
lobby broken only by the faint light from the lamp that Cordelia habitually
left on at night and by the vague bands of light filtering through the blinds
over the window to Wes’ office. Certain that no one was there, she all but
ran down the stairs to the lobby crossing the room to the counter where either
she or Wes would leave the cd player after the others would leave for the day.
Fred had come to cherish those quiet moments, dancing to various songs in the
lobby. This time, she was going to dance solely for him, something that she
hadn’t done since the first night he’d caught her in the lobby. She had
never told him, during their infrequent personal conversations, that she had
often hoped that he would see her dance. Fred felt like herself when she
danced, free to say everything that she couldn’t actually say with words.
Fred brought the cd case out from behind her back, carefully setting the
machine to play the right song, as well as setting it to repeat for her. She
expected it to take a minute or two for Wes to notice that she was here in the
lobby. That was alright with her for she could use the time to relax and enjoy
the music. Taking a deep breath, Fred brushed a hand over the short skirt she
wore and bravely pressed the play button, taking a few steps back to allow the
music to wash over her.
Tonight we dance,
I leave my life in your hands.
We take the floor,
Nothing is forbidden anymore.
Wes looked up from the book as the music started, a smile
ghosting across his face for a moment. "Fred," he thought, sighing.
The music was sultry, something that they hadn’t danced to since he’d
interrupted her the first time. Tucking a scrap of paper into the book, he
closed it. Leaning back in his chair, Wes placed a firm grip on his emotions
for it was becoming harder and harder to let her go, to leave the hotel at
night without more than a few mostly chaste kisses.
Rising slowly to his feet, Wes crossed the office to the door, opening it and
leaning upon it. He drew in a sudden breath for she was dancing, abandoned and
free. Fred’s moves were wilder then that first dance, sexier if that was
even possible. Her body called to him; he wanted her now. Straightening away
from the door, Wes began to cross the room to join her.
Fred laughed, a sultry sexy laugh, and shook her head. Gesturing toward one of
the chairs in the lobby, she backed away from Wes as he came toward her. He
raised an eyebrow in question and she repeated the gesture. Sighing, Wes
settled in the chair, watching her dance.
Fred reached up, tugging the band out of her hair so that her hair tumbled
free about her. Tossing the band to Wes, she tousled her hair briefly before
closing her eyes for a moment. When she opened them, she cast a sultry come
hither look at Wes before abandoning herself to the music.
Wes leaned back in the chair, trying to do what she asked of him. But the
sheer sexuality of her dancing, the abandonment of it, made it immensely
difficult to stay in that chair. As she came closer, Wes realized that she was
dancing a very intense salsa. Hot… Sexy… Enticing… Fred’s dance
brought her close enough for Wes to grab her around the waist, to start to
pull her against him. She laughed again, shoving him gently back into the
chair with a shake of her head.
Wes collapsed into the chair as she danced away from him, shimming her hips
and tossing her hair. He managed to barely stifle his moan of frustration at
her antics, especially when she leaned over and gave him a brief glimpse of
her breasts under that loose shirt she was wearing. Wes clenched a hand on his
thigh, determined to let her have her way for as long as possible. "Do
you know what you are doing to me?" Wes asked softly, barely audible over
the music echoing in the lobby.
Fred laughed again, "Of course." She shimmied briefly and stalked
across the floor toward him. She stopped just out of his reach and hiked the
short skirt she wore a little higher as she kept up her dancing. Fred chuckled
again as she watched Wes’ eyes follow the hem of the skirt.
Finally at the end of his patience, Wes rose and circled Fred for a moment
before grabbing one of her wrists and dragging her to him. Wrapping an arm
around her waist, Wes tangled his hand in her hair, tugging on it lightly to
pull her head back so she’d look at him. The moment she raised her face, Wes
lowered his head and brushed his lips across hers. The movement was soft,
teasing, barely a taste. She gasped softly, wrapping her arms around his neck.
He took advantage of that gasp, deepening the kiss. He lifted his head,
sucking briefly on her lower lip before releasing it and staring into her
eyes. She was staring up at him, wide-eyed and trembling. "Like
that?" he asked in a husky whisper.
Fred blushed at his question, even as she pressed closer to him.
"Wes?" she asked in a barely audible whisper. Her fingers wove into
his hair, tugging on a few of the strands.
"You did," Wes murmured, kissing her again. He tugged on her shirt,
pulling it out of the skirt and insinuating his hand beneath it to caress her
bare skin. He released her hair, stroking her throat as he stepped back enough
to allow his hand to lightly trail down over her breasts. He chuckled darkly
as she whimpered twisting into his touch. Wes released her lips to trail his
over her jaw to her ear, nibbling on the lobe for a moment.
"Do you know what you do to me?" he purred into her ear, repeating
his earlier words. "I want to touch you… taste you… listen to your
cries," he punctuated his words with soft kisses to her throat,
"feel your skin under my hands." He nuzzled her neck, tracing her
pulse with his tongue. He could hear her soft gasps in his ear and wondered if
they were from his words or the way he was tracing her ribs with his fingers.
Fred gasped and squirmed; she didn’t know what she wanted. His touch was so
intoxicating, but she was scared. She gasped again, arching against Wesley
when he suddenly started sucking on her neck. "Wesley," she moaned,
holding him against her.
Wes released her and chuckled. He lifted his head from her throat, smiling at
the bruise he’d left on her. He raised a hand, brushing his thumb across it
to her soft gasping cry. Cupping her cheek, he stared into her eyes, seeing
the combination of hunger and fear in her eyes. "Are you afraid of me,
love?" He asked, softly, "do you want me to let you go?"
Fred shook her head. "I don’t…," She trailed off in confusion,
staring up at him. "I don’t know what I want. Wesley, please."
"Then just trust me," Wes murmured quietly, shifting so that he
could sweep her into his arms. Cradling her against him, he moved through the
lobby to the stairs, intending to take her up to her room. He paused, shifting
her slightly closer so that he could kiss her again. Wes lifted his head,
smiling down into her heavy lidded eyes taking another step toward the stairs
when the phone rang. He groaned and she sighed. "I should get that, it
could be important."
Slowly crossing the room with Fred following behind him, Wes shut off the cd
player and reached for the phone. He got one hand on it, intending to pick it
up when it stopped ringing. Wes turned, leaning on the counter and held a hand
out to Fred. She tentatively placed hers in his allowing him to pull her
toward him when the doors opened admitting a very excited Angel. Fred jumped
back, scurrying across the room to settle in the chair Wes had so recently
vacated.
"Good Wes. You’re here. We need to go. Cordy had a vision." Angel
opened the weapons cabinet, tossing Wes’ crossbow to him. "Come on, we
haven’t got a lot of time." Angel was back out the door as quickly as
he arrived.
Catching the crossbow, Wes glared after departing vampire. He stalked over to
Fred, kissing her quickly but passionately, "This isn’t over,
love." Pulling away from her, he grabbed his jacket from the office and
headed out after Angel.
Fred stared after Wes for a long moment, knowing that everything had changed
tonight. No longer would Wes be happy with the way things had been between
them and, to be honest, neither would she.
